Conquering Kilimanjaro and Beyond

Personal Challenges

Physical challenges fueled my passion for fundraising. Before starting "It's good 2 give," I tackled two unforgettable treks: the scorching Sahara desert and the mystical Bhutan, "Land of the Thunder Dragon." Both were deeply rewarding, even with the personal hurdle of hating camping! The sense of achievement was truly incredible.

It's good 2 give Takes Flight:

In 2010, Ian and I founded "It's good 2 give," and by 2011, we dreamt of a charity trek. After much deliberation, Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, beckoned. I put the word out, and to my delight, 31 brave souls joined the challenge!

Training Tales

With the trek planned for autumn 2013, training commenced. Some were dedicated, others, well... creative! One friend declared a Swanston golf club scone break mid-training sufficient preparation, and surprisingly, she summited Kilimanjaro while I didn't!

Beyond the Climb

In addition to the personal physical challenge, treks can also offer glimpses into local communities. In Tanzania, we visited a children's home, bearing gifts of clothes and colouring pencils. The warmth and welcome were unforgettable.

Summit Triumph and Unexpected Grit:

Kilimanjaro was no easy feat. One trekker fell ill on day one, but with incredible resilience, she recovered and became one of the 24 who reached the summit! Today, she's a serial trekker and a passionate advocate for our cause.

Join the Adventure!

We'd love for you to join our future challenges! Next year another Arctic adventure trek and a Kilimanjaro trek. While I haven't personally conquered the Arctic, a supporter will soon share their experience in a blog post. Trust me, it's challenging, but exhilarating!

P.S.Enjoy some photos from our unforgettable Kilimanjaro trek!
