From Nervous Nellie to Zip-Line Queen: My Mum's 80th Birthday Challenge!

Remember that feeling of butterflies in your stomach right before a nerve-wracking roller coaster ride? That was me, facing the zipline challenge we organised for "It's good 2 give" in 2010. Here's the story of how fear, family, and a little birthday cheer turned it into an unforgettable experience.

First, the plan: We wanted to bring the zipline thrill to Edinburgh, just like the one I did over the Clyde a couple years prior. Luckily, we found a venue at Inverleith Park and secured funding from St James Place Foundation. My mum, (Helen aka Nellie) celebrating her 80th birthday, bravely declared she'd take the plunge! Talk about a cool grandma!

Local stars on board: To top it off, Edinburgh's Lord and Lady Provost, George and Elizabeth Grubb, joined the fun, making it a truly family affair. Even my dad, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew got in on the action.

My not-so-grand entrance: The only problem? The press wanted a mother-daughter zipline moment. So, with butterflies doing a samba in my stomach, I faced my fear. But hey, I did it!

Mum's zipline epiphany: Meanwhile, my mum absolutely loved it! So much so, she wanted to go again! Who says 80th birthdays can't be exhilarating?

Why you should join the fun: The zipline challenge is a fantastic way to conquer your fears and support a good cause. This year, we're back at the Clyde, and you can be part of the excitement. It's simple: pay a registration fee, pledge to raise £200 for "It's good 2 give," and get ready to fly!
