Joanna Lamb Award Winners

The Joanna Lamb Award for Outstanding volunteering was created in 2019 to recognise It’s good 2 give volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to our charity.

The award was named after the amazing Joanna Lamb who did so much to promote our charity and raise awareness of young cancer patients. An inspiration to us all and someone that loved volunteering at It’s good 2 give events, sadly Joanna passed away from cancer in 2019 aged just 18 years.

Joanna’s bright and friendly personality and love of sport will always be remembered by us and her family are still a huge part of the It’s good 2 give. They are very much involved in lots of our projects and her dad, Alan plays a big part in the presentation of this award.

Award Winners

2023

We are thrilled to recognise Viv and Jonathan Pickup and Judith Paterson and her team at Balanced as the joint recipients of our 2023 Joanna Lamb Award for Outstanding Volunteering!

Viv and Jonathan Pickup have been instrumental in transforming the Ripple Retreat gardens, creating a stunning rockery that families can enjoy alongside the stunning loch views. They have also meticulously nurtured the other plants and herbs in the garden, ensuring a beautiful and inviting space for all. Their dedication to the Ripple Retreat is truly remarkable, and they come to the Retreat fortnightly throughout the spring, summer, and autumn seasons.

Judith Paterson and her team at Balanced have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting the Ripple Retreat through their fundraising efforts. In the past two years alone, they have raised an incredible £30,000 for the charity by organising events and participating in walks and runs. Their passion for the Ripple Retreat and the young people who benefit from its services is unwavering, and they are already planning an innovative nature/sensory trail through the Retreat's woodlands.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and generosity of Viv and Jonathan Pickup and Judith Paterson and her team at Balanced. Their contributions to the Ripple Retreat are invaluable, and they are a true inspiration to us all.

2021

This year’s fantastic winners undertook amazing fundraising feats for It’s Good 2 Give. They both hail from the mighty Kingdom of Fife, and they’ve certainly been champions for our charity this year.

Lorraine Garvie, our first winner, carried out a huge number of fundraising raffles for It’s good 2 give and other charities too. Lorraine's impressive efforts not only helped raised welcome funds, but she has continued to do so whilst also working an extremely busy job.

Mary Park, our second winner, took in her stride a virtual walk from Lands’ End to John o’ Groats for It’s good 2 give raising funds and awareness along the way. Mary continues to support our charity in many ways, including being part of the Welcome Team at the Ripple Retreat. and actively promoting the charity through social media. Her eldest daughter is also one of the wonderful artists behind our amazing Christmas card selection this year. You can find out more about the cards at https://www.itsgood2give.co.uk/blog/robin-christmas-cards.

Congratulations to these two amazing volunteers, and our thanks as always to each and every one of you that contribute to our mission at It’s good 2 give!
